Holiday of the Resurrection

Saturday some of my friends and I had an Easter party for the students I teach.  We had a fun time celebrating عيد قيامة or Holiday of the Resurrection in English.  We were very clear about what this party was about so no one would feel tricked and 19 ladies came.

We decided to do all the classics: color eggs, hunt eggs, sing Easter songs, and tell the Easter story.  We had fruit, veggies and resurrection cookies (they are hollow in side, like the tomb Easter morning)

I was amazed at how much fun the girls had coloring eggs. We told them about how eggs represent new life and at Easter we remember the new life we have because of Christ.

Then we sent them outside to hunt Easter eggs.  We talked about how this is what happened Easter Sunday when the women came and Jesus wasn't in the tomb.  They went to find him, his body.

We were able to tell the Easter story 3 times and the girls had a lot of questions.

Before they left we gave them all an Easter basket with chocolate, a candle, a note pad and the New Testament.  So many of them were excited to get the gift and even more excited when the saw that the book was in Arabic.

Pray for these beautiful, amazing women.  Pray that His word would penetrate their hearts and their families.  Pray for us to have more opportunities to share truth with them.
